Hi Debbie Murphy (your review 1383),
Your question is: “If Jesus were to come back today, would he still preach that he is God or Son of God?” I think you are million miles away from what the Jesus (PBUH) actually preached.
Scholars tell us that Jesus did not preach or claimed that he was God or Son of God. He preached a Gospel in which his mission was to fulfil the Law of the Moses (PBUH), i.e. to bring Jews back to the straight path; the Gospels of Luke, John, Mark and Mathew are the hear-say accounts of his mission.
From Islamic perspective, we Muslims do not believe that Jesus was God or Son of God or Begotten Son of God and there is nowhere written in Qur’an that he will come back for the second time. However, if someone did come back from the dead and claimed that he is Jesus and he is God or Son of God, then I believe that people would simply laugh at him. Thomas Carlyle (1840), a Scottish historian said that mankind has reached to such an intellectual level that it will not accept any human being as God.
Salaam.

Hi Christopher Carlyle,
Thank you for your review 1378. The misconception among some (actually very few) Christians that Muslims do not believe in Jesus Christ (PBUH) is ill founded and is out of sheer ignorance. We Muslims believe that Jesus Christ was the mightiest messenger of God; however, we do not believe that Jesus was God or Son of God like most sects of the Christians do.
When we read Qur’an, we find that Prophet Mohammad’s (PBUH) name is mentioned only 5 times in Qur'an; his father’s name isn’t there, his mother’s name isn’t there, his date of birth isn’t there; but surprise surprise, we find name of Jesus mentioned 44 times, 9 times more than the name of the prophet Muhammad and we find a full chapter (Sur’ah Maryam) dedicated to the mother of Jesus in Qur’an. Qur’an reveres Jesus and his mother more than it does Prophet Mohammad on whom the Qur’an was revealed.
There are 73 books in the RC Bible and 66 books in the Protestants Bible, but there isn’t a single book in the name of mother of Jesus in any Bible. But Qur’an honours mother of Jesus and enshrines her name in Qur’an exclusively as Sur’ah Maryam. Both Jesus and his mother mentioned by her name Maryam occupy the highest position in the house of Islam.
The irony is that the Christians display portrait of Jesus on the cross as a logo for Christianity but they do not practice what the Jesus preached; they practice what the Paul preached. If there were no Paul, Christians would be practising more or less the same religious rituals that we Muslims do.
Salaam.

Hi Molly,
Thank you for sharing with us the good news in your review 1377. Yes indeed, it is applaudable that our young Muslims cleared litter in cities of Scandinavian countries in early mornings of the New Year Day; but there is a Catch to it. Guess what? They were not Sunny Muslims, not Shia Muslims, not Wahabi Muslims, not Duo-Bandi Muslims, not other xyz Muslims; they were Ahmedi Muslims whom we call non-Muslims and Kafirs (Infidels).
Ahmedi Muslims believe in Qur’an and prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as we other Muslims do but they also believe in Mirza Ghualm Ahmed as a shadow prophet to prophet Muhammad. They appoint a priest or Hazoor (in Urdu) like Christians appoint Pope.
Please note that Islam is a creed without priesthood; Ullamahs in Islam are self-appointed and local community approved and they serve the religious needs of the local Muslim community they live in.
Happy New Year to you!
